If you’re looking for tips to troubleshoot Wi-Fi connection problems with your Geeni Camera, you’re on the right page.

In the following paragraphs, we’ll show you what you can do to get your Geeni Camera connected to Wi-Fi. Let’s dive in.

Geeni Camera

First off, here are some reasons your Geeni Camera may not connect to Wi-Fi:

  • Your Wi-Fi connection is faulty.
  • Your router is broadcasting on the 5GHz band.
  • The camera doesn’t work well with your encryption settings.
  • The camera doesn’t support Wi-Fi connection over your Geeni mobile app.
  • Your camera is incompatible with your router.

That said, let’s head over to the troubleshooting tips.

Tips to Fix Geeni Camera Wi-Fi Connection Issues

Reboot and Reset Your Geeni Camera

If your Geeni camera isn’t connecting to Wi-Fi, your camera might not be functioning properly. To fix this issue, you’ll need to reboot your camera.

Follow these steps to reboot your Geeni Camera:

  • Unplug your camera from the outlet where you’ve connected it.
  • Wait 5 minutes.
  • Now, insert the camera’s plug back into the outlet.

Your camera will reboot now. Once the device comes back on, try connecting it to Wi-Fi again. If the device doesn’t connect, a reset may resolve the problem.

To reset the Geeni camera, press and hold the reset button on the device for 10 seconds. You should find the reset button at the back of the camera.

If the reset button is tiny, use a pin to press the button.

Avoid using a needle to press the reset button, as using a needle can prick the button, thus destroying it.

Reboot Your Router

Another reason your Geeni camera may not connect to Wi-Fi is a faulty Wi-Fi connection. You can resolve this issue by rebooting your router.

To reboot your router, disconnect the device from your power outlet and wait 30 seconds. Connect your router back to the outlet after 30 seconds.

Your router will turn off and turn on. Now, try connecting the camera to Wi-Fi again.

If the camera doesn’t connect to Wi-Fi, continue to the next step.

Switch to the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi Band

Your Geeni Camera only supports the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi band. So, if your router is broadcasting on the 5GHz Wi-Fi band, your camera won’t connect to Wi-Fi.

You can resolve this issue by switching to the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi band. You’ll find the details on how to change your Wi-Fi band in your router’s user manual.

If your Geeni camera doesn’t connect to Wi-Fi after you’ve changed your Wi-Fi band, try the next tip.

Change the Encryption Settings on Your Router

Your Geeni Camera may also fail to connect to Wi-Fi because it doesn’t support your encryption settings. Your encryption is the tool that switches human language into computer code.

Most routers are set to WPA/WPA2 encryption. Unfortunately, some Geeni cameras can’t connect to routers with this type of encryption. If your camera falls into this category, you’ll need to switch to another encryption.

Your router’s user manual contains the information on how to change your router’s encryption. We advise that you switch to the WPA-PSK encryption type and connect the camera to Wi-Fi again.

If the device fails to connect, select another encryption type and connect the camera. Please note that you might have to test different encryption types to see which one works with the camera.

If your camera fails to connect to Wi-Fi after you’ve tested all the encryption types available on your router, continue to the next tip.

Connect Your Camera to Another Smartphone

Your Geeni camera may not connect to Wi-Fi because it doesn’t support Wi-Fi connection over your mobile app. Some Geeni cameras function properly on the Android Geeni app, while others work better on the iPhone version.

Perhaps you were trying to connect the camera to Wi-Fi over the Android app when it can only connect over the iPhone app.

If your camera won’t connect to Wi-Fi on your Android Geeni app, try using an iPhone. Then try connecting the camera to your account on the iPhone.

iPhone users who can’t connect their cameras on their mobile app will need to connect their devices to their account on Android phones.

You’ll be able to control your camera from the original phone once it has connected to Wi-Fi.

However, if your Geeni camera doesn’t connect to Wi-Fi from another smartphone, check the next tip.

Connect Your Camera to Wi-Fi Using Another Router

If your camera doesn’t connect to Wi-Fi after you’ve tried all the tips above, the device might be incompatible with your router. In that case, you’ll need to connect the camera to another router.

At this moment, we can’t say for sure which routers are compatible with the Geeni camera. So, you’ll need to do some trial and error to find a router that the camera supports.
