How to Change the Master Code on Kwikset Powerbolt 2 Door Lock

In this post, you’ll learn how to quickly change the Master Code on your Kwikset Powerbolt 2 Electronic Deadbolt.

As you probably know, the Master Code is a 4-10 digit code that allows you to put your lock in programming mode to make changes such as adding/removing user codes.

Changing this code is important for security reasons, especially if you just installed the lock or acquired an existing one. A brand-new Kwikset Powerbolt 2 Lock has the default Master Code—0000, which you’ll need to change to prevent security. If you acquired a previously used one, you want to change the existing Master Code as well, for security reasons.

Follow these steps:

  1. Enter your existing Master Code. For a new lock, the existing Master Code is 0000, which is the default code.
  2. Press the Lock button.
  3. Press 7 and hit the Lock button.
  4. Enter your new Master Code (4-10 digits) and hit the Lock button.
  5. You should see a green flash and hear two beeps, meaning the Master Code has been successfully changed.

What next, you can now use the new Master Code to program the lock, such as adding/removing User Codes.

If you don’t know your Master Code, you’ll need to reset the lock. This will erase all existing codes and restore factory default settings. Then reprogram the lock.
