How to Change Codes on Schlage FE575 Keypad Lock

In this post, I will show how to change codes on your Schlage FE575 Keypad Deadbolt. If that sounds like what you’re looking for, let’s head right into it!

Changing Code on Schlage FE575

Changing the 6 Digit Code (Programming Code)

The 6-digit code for this lock is the Programming Code. This code is required to put the lock in programming mode before changing and managing any settings in the lock.

You may want to change this code for convenience or security reasons.

Here’s how to change the 6-digit code on your Schlage FE575:

  • Enter your Programming Code (that’s the 6 digit code you want to change). Then wait for three orange lights and three beeps.
  • Press the Schlage button. Then press key 3 and wait for three orange lights and three beeps.
  • Enter a new 6-digit Programming Code. Wait for three orange lights and three beeps.
  • Enter the new 6-digit Programming Code again. You’ll see a green flash and hear one long beep. This shows the programming is successful.

Your new Programming Code is now in effect, and you need to enter the code to put your lock in programming mode before changing any settings in the lock.

Changing the 4 Digit Code (User Code)

This lock allows users to add up to 19 4 digit codes (User Codes). As you probably know, you can enter a User Code on the keypad to unlock your door from outside.

To change a 4 Digit Code, you’ll need to remove the code and add a new one. Here’s how to do this:

Removing the Code

  • Enter your current 6-digit Programming Code. Then wait for three orange lights and three beeps.
  • Press the Schlage button and press key 2 on the keypad. Wait for three orange lights and three beeps.
  • Enter the 4-digit code you want to remove. Then wait for three orange lights and three beeps.
  • Enter the 4-digit code you want to remove again. The lock will flash green, followed by a long beep. This shows the code is removed.
  • Now, the user Code is removed. Next, you’ll need to add a new code to replace the deleted one.

Adding a New Code

  • Enter your 6-digit Programming Code and wait for three orange lights and three beeps.
  • Press the Schlage button on the keypad. Then press key 1 and wait for three orange lights and three beeps.
  • Enter a new 4-digit code and wait for three orange lights and three beeps.
  • Enter the same 4-digit code again. You’ll see a green light and hear one long beep. This means the programming is successful.
  • Your new code is now added to replace the deleted one.

So that’s how to change the User Code (4 digit code) on your Schlage FE575 keypad Lock.

Resetting Your Schlage FE575 Keypad Lock

If you’ve acquired a previously owned Schlage FE575 and want to remove all codes and custom settings, you’ll need to perform a factory setting and reprogram the lock.

But before you do this, make sure you know the current Programming Code of your lock. If you’re still using the default code, you can find it on the back/front of the user manual that came with your lock.

If you don’t have the manual, remove the lock from the door and check the back of the keypad assembly. Once this is taken care of, proceed with the reset.

Follow these steps to reset your Schlage FE575:

  • On the interior assembly of your lock, remove the battery cover. Next, disconnect the battery.
  • Press the Schlage button on the keypad once.
  • Now, within 10 seconds, reconnect the battery. Then press and hold the Schlage button until it illuminates green and you hear a beep.
  • Once the lock lights green and beeps, the reset is complete.

Keep in mind that performing a factory reset on your lock will erase all your custom settings. Make sure to reprogram your lock (change default codes, add new codes, enable auto-lock, etc.) after performing a reset.
