How to Delete All Codes in a Schlage Door Lock

Are you looking to delete all codes in your Schlage Keypad Lock but not sure how to go about it? If so, you want to keep reading as I’ll walk you through the steps to that in seconds. Let’s get right into it!

Schlage lock delete all codes

First off, note that Schlage keypad locks come with a (6 digits) Programming Code and two (4 digits) User Codes. The Programming Code allows you to make programming changes in your lock, while a User Code is used to unlock the lock via the keypad.

Depending on the Schlage lock model, users can add more User Codes (up to 19) and also delete all User Codes in the lock at once. However, you can’t delete the Programming Code, but can only change it to a code of your choice.

So, if you’re looking to remove all codes from your Schlage door lock, it technically means you want to delete all User Codes. Continue to the next paragraph to see how to do this.

How to Delete All Codes in Your Schlage Door Lock?

Here’s how to do that:

  1. Enter the Programming Code (6 digits). Then wait for the Schlage button to light orange three times and the lock beep three times.
  2. Press the Schlage button on the keypad.
  3. Press key 6 on the keypad. Then wait for the Schlage button to light orange three times, followed by three beeps.
  4. Enter the Programming Code (6 digits) again to complete the process. The Schlage button will illuminate green once, followed by 1 long beep, showing that all User Codes have been deleted.

So that’s all you need to do to delete all codes (User Codes) in your Schlage Lock at once. If you don’t want to delete all the codes at once, follow the steps below to delete a single User Code at a time:

  1. Enter the current Programming Code (6 digits) and wait for the Schlage button to light orange three times, followed by three beeps. Next, press the Schlage button.
  2. Press key 2 on the keypad and then wait for the Schlage button to light orange three times, followed by three beeps.
  3. Enter the User Code to be deleted (4 digits), then wait for the Schlage button to light orange three times, followed by three beeps.
  4. Re-enter the User Code to be deleted to complete the operation. The lock will light green and beep once, meaning the User Code has been successfully deleted.
  5. Repeat the steps to delete more codes—until you remove all existing User Codes.

As per the instructions, you need to know the Programming Code of your Schlage Lock to delete all the codes. If you don’t know the Programming Code, you have to perform a reset on the lock. See how to troubleshoot lost Programming Code issues in a Schlage Keypad Lock.

Note: You can’t lock/unlock the lock through the keypad without User Codes, so ensure you program new User Codes after deleting the existing ones. If you’re not sure how to program new User Codes, see the next paragraph.

How to Add a User Code on a Schlage Keypad Lock?

Follow the steps to add new User Codes on your Schlage keypad lock:

  1. Enter the Programming and wait for the Schlage button to illuminate orange three times, and the lock beeps three times.
  2. Press the Schlage button and then press key 1 on the keypad. Then wait for the Schlage button to illuminate orange three times, followed by three beeps.
  3. Enter a new User Code (4 digits) and wait for the Schlage button to light orange three times and the lock beep three times.
  4. Re-enter the new User Code to complete the operation. The Schlage button will illuminate green, followed by one long beep. This shows that the User Code has been added successfully.

Repeat the steps to add more User Codes (up to 19) if you want to.

And that’s all about deleting and creating new User Codes. For the Programming Code (6-digit code), you can’t remove it but can change it to a unique code of your choosing. See how to change the Programming Code on your Schlage Lock below:

  1. Via the keypad, enter the existing Programming Code (the one you want to change) and wait for three orange lights from the Schlage button, followed by three beeps.
  2. Press the Schlage button on the keypad and then press key 3. Then wait for the three orange flashes and three beeps.
  3. Enter a new Programming Code (6 digits), then wait for the Schlage button to light orange three times and the lock beep three times.
  4. Enter the new Programming Code again to complete the process. The lock will illuminate green, followed by one long beep, showing that the code has been successfully changed.

Closing Thoughts

As you can see, deleting all codes from your Schlage keypad door lock is something you can easily do. However, you need to know the current Programming Code to make any programming changes.

If you’ve forgotten the Programming Code, you’ll need to perform a factory reset to restore the default code. Then use the default Programming Code to program any function in the lock. If you’re not sure how to do this, read more about resetting a Schlage Lock and finding the default codes.

It’s also worth mentioning that the instructions here work for most Schlage keypad locks—Schlage BE365, FE575, FE595, etc. If it doesn’t work for you, refer to your user manual or try googling the model to find specific instructions.
