Toledo Electronic Deadbolt Programming Instructions
Are you looking to program some functions in your Toledo Keyless Electronic Lock but not sure how to do that? If so, then this post is your go-to resource.
In this post, I’ll walk you through the steps to program/reprogram your new or existing Toledo Electronic Deadbolt. Let’s get right into it!
Quick Tip: Ensure you complete each programming step within 6 seconds, else the lock will exit programming mode, leading to unsuccessful programming attempts.
Now let’s get started with the programming instructions.
Changing the Programming Code on Your Toledo Electronic Lock
The Programming Code for this lock is a 4 to 10-digit code that allows you to make programming changes. For example, if you’re looking to delete or create a User Code, you’ll need to enter your Programming Code to put the lock in Programming Mode.
The default Programming Code is 0000, and you want to change the default code to ensure security.
So, here’s how to change the default/existing Programming Code on your Toledo Electronic Deadbolt:
- Enter the default Programming Code (0000) or the existing Programming Code you want to change. Next, press the TOLEDO button.
- Press 4, then press the TOLEDO button.
- Enter a new Programming Code (4 to 10 digits) and press the TOLEDO button.
If the LED indicator flashes green twice, followed by two long beeps, it means the operation is successful. So your new Programming Code is in effect, and you can use it to program functions in your lock.
Note: You can change the Programming Code as many times as you want. The Programming Code can only be used for function settings; you can’t use it to unlock the lockset.
How to Add User Codes on Your Toledo Keyless Electronic Lock
For your needs, a User Code for this lock is a 4 to 10-digit code you can use to unlock the lockset via the keypad. The lock allows you to store up to 6 User Codes (can be deleted anytime if needed).
That said, here’s how to add a User Code on your Toledo Lock:
- Enter your current Programming Code and press the TOLEDO button.
- Press 1, and then press the TOLEDO button.
- Enter a new User Code (4 to 10 digits) and press the TOLEDO button.
- The LED indicator will flash green twice and the lock beep twice, showing the User Code has been successfully added.
Repeat the steps to add more User Codes—if you want to.
Deleting User Codes on Your Toledo Electronic Deadbolt
As mentioned, the lock allows you to delete any User Code at any time. You can either delete individual User Code or delete all User Codes at once. Let’s start with how to delete a single User Code:
- Enter your Programming Code and press the TOLEDO button.
- Press 2, and then press the TOLEDO button.
- Enter the User Code you want to delete and then press the TOLEDO button to complete the process.
Note: This lock comes with a default User Code (1234). Ensure you delete it (using the method above) for security reasons.
Deleting all User Codes at Once
If you wish to delete all the existing User Codes on your lock, here is how to do that:
- Enter your current Programming Code and press the TOLEDO button.
- Press 3, and then press the TOLEDO button.
And that’s all you need to do to delete all existing User Codes on your Toledo Lock.
Note: Keypad locking function will be invalid if all User Codes are deleted. So you’ll need to add new User Codes to unlock the lockset via the keypad.
How to Disable and Enable All User Codes
You can temporarily make all User Codes in your Toledo Lock inactive by disabling User Codes. And when all User Codes are disabled, no one can unlock the lockset via the keypad. This will also disable the auto-lock function.
Here’s how to disable all User Codes:
- Enter your Programming Code and press the TOLEDO button.
- Press 8, and then press the TOLEDO button. This will disable all User Codes in your lock.
To enable User Codes, repeat steps 1 and 2.
Enabling/Disabling Auto-Lock on Your Toledo Electronic Deadbolt
If you want your lock to lock automatically after a few seconds (if the door closes), you’ll need to enable the auto-lock.
So, here’s how to enable auto-lock:
- Enter your Programming Code and press the TOLEDO button.
- Press 5, and then press the TOLEDO button.
This will turn on auto-lock on your Toledo Electronic Lock, meaning the lock will automatically lock after 30 seconds when the door closes.
Repeat the steps to disable auto-lock.
Note that 30 seconds is the default delay time, and you can change it to your preferred delay time.
See how to set auto-lock delay-time below:
- Enter your Programming Code and press the TOLEDO button.
- Press 6, and then press the TOLEDO button.
- Enter your preferred time delay (10 to 99 seconds) and press the TOLEDO button.
Now your lock will automatically lock based on the time delay you set.
How to Lock/Unlock Your Toledo Electronic Deadbolt
- To unlock the lock from outside, enter a valid User Code through the keypad. And to unlock from inside, rotate the interior turn-piece to the unlock position.
- To lock your lock from outside, press the TOLEDO (programming) button on the keypad. And to lock from inside the door, rotate the interior turn-piece to the lock position.
Restoring Default Settings on Your Toledo Electronic Deadbolt
If you’ve lost/don’t remember your Programming Code, you can restore factory settings on your lock, then reprogram it using the default Programming Code.
Also, you want to factory reset your lock if you’re having some issues with it, as this usually helps fix some minor issues.
That said, here’s how to factory reset your Toledo Electronic Keyless Deadbolt:
- Remove the battery cover to locate the Reset button (a black circle button labeled “R”).
- Press and hold the Reset button (for over 5 seconds) until you hear three long beeps. This will reset your lock.
Now you can reprogram your lock. Ensure you change the default Programming Code and delete the preset User Codes for security reasons. See how to change the Programming Code and add/delete User Codes above.
Troubleshooting Your Toledo Electronic Deadbolt
In this section, we look at some common problems you may have with your lock and how to troubleshoot them.
Why is my Toledo Electronic Lock not working?
If you’re having issues with your lock; as in the lock is not working electronically, it might be that the batteries are low. So the first step to resolving the issue is to replace the batteries and ensure they’re correctly installed—following the correct polarity (+ -).
If the issue persists, try to factory reset the lock (see how to do this above) to see if it works. If not, contact TOLEDO Customer Support Team for help.
Why is my lock flashing red?
Usually, frequent red flashes and beeps on your lock show that the batteries are low. So, replace the batteries and ensure you only use alkaline batteries (4 AA alkaline batteries)
Why can’t I change the Programming Code on my Toledo Electronic Lock?
First, check that you’re entering the correct existing Programming Code (the one you want to change). Next, ensure you complete each programming step within 6 seconds, else the lock will exit programming mode, causing unsuccessful programming attempts.
More so, if your previous attempt was unsuccessful, wait 6 seconds or press the TOLEDO button before you try again.
Wrapping Up
So that’s how to program basic functions in your Toledo Electronic Keypad Deadbolt.
Note that the lock comes with a Code Protection function. If wrong codes are entered over 5 times, the system will shut down for 45 seconds.
Lastly, if you’ve acquired a new Toledo Electronic Lock, ensure you change the default Programming Code and delete the default User Code for security reasons.
