How Do You Know If Someone is Checking Your Location on Life360?
While Life360 won’t notify you when someone checks your location, there are other methods you can apply to determine if someone is tracking you on Life360.
The following tips will help you detect when someone is checking your location on Life360:
Check if Your Location Icon is Active
Since you’re probably trying to hide your location, you may have turned off your Location settings. If the Location icon suddenly becomes active after you’ve turned it off, someone might be checking your location on Life360.
Examine Your Battery Usage
You can easily determine if someone checks your location by studying your battery usage. If your Location Services is consuming a lot of power, chances are someone is tracking you on Life360.
Check the Find My iPhone App
The Find My iPhone app is an app that lets you find your iPhone when you lose it. Interestingly, this app also tells you when someone checks your location.
If you open the app and click on the People tab, you’ll see a list of people who are currently tracking you. Anyone who appears on that list is most likely checking your location on Life360.
What to Do If Someone Checks My Location on Life360
If you suspect that someone checks your location, there are a few tips you can apply to hide your location from them.
These tips include:
Turn Off Your Location
You can hide your location from someone who is actively checking it by turning off your location. There are several ways to do this:
1. Disable Location Settings on Your Phone
The easiest way to turn off your location is to disable your location settings.
Here’s how to do that:
Android
- Open your Settings app and select Location.
- Tap the button beside the Location tab to turn it off.
iPhone
- Go to Settings.
- Tap on Privacy and Location Services.
- Select Location Services.
- Then, toggle the button beside the Location Services tab to the On position.
Disabling your Location will only turn off your location for a few minutes. Life360 can automatically re-enable your location at any time, especially if you’ve already granted the app location permissions.
The next tip offers a stronger way to turn off your location.
2. Enable Airplane Mode
Another way to turn off your location is to enable airplane mode on your phone. Activating airplane mode will make your phone lose access to all the cell signals around you. As a result, neither Life360 nor any other location tracker will be able to find you.
To enable airplane mode, pull down the top of your screen. This will reveal the Shortcuts menu. Then, tap the Airplane icon.
You should note that putting your phone on airplane mode also means that you won’t be able to call, text, or surf the internet. You shouldn’t have to render your phone useless because you want to hide your location.
Luckily for you, there are better ways to turn off your location.
3. Disable Location Sharing in Your Life360
You can ask Life360 to prevent other members in your circle from seeing your location. To do this, you’ll need to pause Location Sharing in your Life360 circle.
Take the following steps to disable Location Sharing in your Life360 circle:
- Open your Life360 app.
- Click on Settings at the bottom right corner of your screen.
- Then, tap the circle where you’d like to stop location sharing.
- You’ll see a list of options.
- Select Location Sharing.
- Then, tap the slider on the Location Sharing tab to turn off the option.
When you disable location sharing in a Life360 circle, the app will notify all your circle members that you’ve turned off location sharing. This alert will come in the form of a ‘Location Sharing Paused’ message on your profile. Life360 will also display an exclamation mark beside your name.
Delete the Life360 App from Your Phone
If you don’t want anyone in your Life360 circles to see your location anymore, you can delete the Life360 app from your phone.
Please note that your circle members also get an alert from Life360 when you delete your Life360 app. This notification appears as Location Tracking Paused on your profile.
The problem with turning off your location is that it’s almost impossible to do it without anyone’s knowledge.
Fake Your Location
If you want to hide your location without raising suspicion, you should consider faking your location. To do that, you’ll need a GPS Faker.
I’ve listed some of the most popular GPS fakers below:
For Android Phones
- Fake GPS 360
- Fake GPS Joystick,
- Fake GPS Run
For iPhones
- iTools
- iSpoofer
- Tenorshare iAnyGo
It’s easy to operate a GPS faker on an iPhone. Once you open the app, you only have to follow the instructions that appear to start using the GPS Faker.
Using a GPS faker on an Android phone is more complicated. But don’t worry, I’ll show you how to do it.
Follow these steps to activate your GPS faker on your Android Phone:
- Download your GPS faker.
- Open your Settings app and select About Phone.
- Then, click on Build Number until you get a notification saying You are now a Developer.
- Go back to the Settings page and select System.
- Then, choose Developer Options.
- A list of options will appear.
- Look for Select Mock Location App on the list and click on it.
- Your GPS Faker will appear now.
- Click on the GPS faker.
- Then, close your Settings app.
- Next, launch your GPS faker app.
- You’ll see a small window where you can grant access to the app to view your files.
- If you don’t want the app to be able to access your files, ignore the window and tap Continue.
- A map will appear now.
- Move your finger along the map to select your fake location.
- Once you are satisfied with your option, tap Start.
- You have successfully faked your location.
- Check Google Maps to ensure that your fake location is active.
Once you’ve faked your location, the person checking it will have no idea that you have left the place.
Use a Burner Phone
Another way to hide a location change from someone who’s checking your location ON Life360 is to get a burner phone.
When leaving your expected location, you’ll drop your regular phone and take the burner phone on your trip. This will make the person assume that you’re at the place on your Life360 profile.
Open a New Life360 Account
If you are tired of playing games and you want to keep using Life360, you can create a new account on the platform. You’ll only add people who wouldn’t track you without your consent on the account.
Wrapping Up
If someone checks your location on Life360, it shouldn’t stop you from going wherever you want. Once you turn off or fake your location, they won’t be able to locate you.
And if you don’t want to pretend, open a new Life360 account that they know nothing about.
