Troubleshooting Steps
Inspect the Batteries
The first step is to check whether the batteries are properly installed. If the batteries aren’t new, chances are they’re running low. Replace the batteries with new ones (4 AA batteries) and try operating the lock again.
If that doesn’t help, try the next troubleshooting step.
Reset and Reprogram
A factory reset removes all existing settings from the lock and restores the factory default settings. This usually helps to fix minor glitches in the system and should get the lock to function properly.
Follow these steps to reset the lock
- On the interior assembly, remove the battery cover and take one battery out.
- Get a pin or the reset tool that comes with the lock. Locate the reset button below the battery compartment (a small round button labeled RES).
- Insert the pin inside and press and hold it. Replace the battery you removed while holding the pin for a few seconds.
- You should hear a long beep, and the latch bolt extends to the lock position, meaning the reset is complete
The lock is now back to factory reset with 12345678 as the default Master Code. Next, you’ll need to reprogram the lock, beginning with changing the default Master Code.
Here’s how to do that:
- Press the large button (program button) on the top of the keypad twice.
- Enter the default Master Code—12345678 and press the program button on the keypad.
- Press 1 and enter your new Master Code (4-10 digits) and press the program button.
- Re-enter the new Master Code and press the program button
- You should hear a long beep and see a green flash on the keypad, meaning the code has been changed.
You can also use this code to unlock your door from the outside. To lock, press and hold any button on the keypad for 2 seconds. To unlock, enter the new Master Code and press the program button.
