Wyze Lock Calibration Failed [Quick Ways to Fix]

So you’ve tried to calibrate your Wyze Lock, but the process keeps failing? In this post, we explain some reasons behind this problem and how to go about it. Let’s dive in.

Wyze Lock

If you’re having issues calibrating your Wyze Lock, here are some reasons this might be happening:

  • Your Wyze Lock hasn’t connected to your phone.
  • Your phone is too far away from the lock.
  • The lock is running low on battery power.
  • Your Wyze Lock firmware and Wyze app are outdated.
  • A shared user is trying to modify the lock.
  • You didn’t extend the latch fully when locking the deadbolt.

Now, let’s look at what you can do to resolve this issue.

How to Fix ‘Wyze Lock Calibration Failed’

Wait for your Wyze Lock to Connect to Your Phone

If your Wyze Lock won’t calibrate, the lock may be taking a while to connect to your phone. Wait for a few minutes. Then, try to calibrate the lock again.

If the lock doesn’t calibrate, continue to the next step.

Move Your Phone Closer to Your Lock

Your Wyze lock uses Bluetooth to connect to your phone. But the lock won’t connect to your phone if the phone is too far away from it. The smart lock should be less than 16 feet away from your phone to connect through Bluetooth to your lock.

If your Wyze lock calibration fails, move your smartphone as close as possible to the lock. After moving closer to your Wyze lock, calibrate the lock again. If the lock isn’t calibrating, continue to the next step.

Check Your Wyze Lock Battery Level

If your Wyze Lock fails to calibrate, chances are the battery in the device is low. If the battery is low, you’ll need to replace it. But first, check the lock’s battery level to know if the batteries are low.

To check your Wyze Lock battery level, tap the Settings icon on the Wyze app Homepage. Then click on Device Info and select your Wyze Lock. You’ll see a low battery warning on the device’s page if the battery is low.

If your Wyze Lock battery is low, you’ll need to change it. Your Wyze Lock uses 4 AA batteries.

  • Follow these steps to change your Wyze Lock batteries:
  • On the exterior assembly of the lock, grab the lock cover to open it.
  • You’ll see the batteries with a tab holding the batteries down on each side.
  • Now, note the way the batteries are placed in their compartment. You’ll need to insert your new batteries in the same way.
  • Pull the tab beside your old batteries to remove them.
  • Now you can insert your new 4 AA batteries.
  • After putting your battery in the compartment, push the tabs beside the compartment back to their original position.
  • A green light will appear above the batteries, showing you have inserted the batteries correctly.
  • Now close the lock.

After replacing the battery in your Wyze Lock, calibrate the Wyze Lock again. If the calibration process fails, move on to the next step.

Update Your Wyze App and Wyze Lock Firmware

Your Wyze Lock may not calibrate if your Wyze app and Wyze lock firmware are outdated. Outdated apps and firmware can cause malfunctions in your devices, and the Wyze lock is no different.

If your Wyze Lock isn’t calibrating, you might need to update your Wyze app and Wyze lock firmware.

Here’s how to update your Wyze app:

  • Open the Google Play Store or App Store.
  • Enter “Wyze app” in the search bar.
  • Then click on the Wyze app in the results that appear. This should take you to the download page.
  • Tap the Update button on the Wyze app download page to update your Wyze app.

Now, take the following steps to update your Wyze Lock firmware:

  • Ensure that you’ve turned on Bluetooth on your phone.
  • Launch your Wyze app. Then tap on your Wyze Lock.
  • Now click on the 3-dot icon at the top of your screen. Then select Device Info.
  • Next, click on Firmware.
  • The system will now ask you to update your firmware. If you don’t get the notification to update your firmware, you are using the latest version.

After updating your Wyze lock firmware and Wyze app, calibrate the Wyze Lock again. If the lock doesn’t calibrate, try the next tip.

Check if a Shared User is Modifying the Lock

Your Wyze Lock can only perform one process at a time. So, if another user is trying to modify the lock while you are calibrating it, your calibration process will fail.

If your Wyze Lock won’t calibrate, a shared user might be changing your Wyze Lock settings on the app. Contact your shared users and ask them if they are using the Wyze app at the moment.

If any of them are modifying settings on your Wyze Lock, wait until the user finishes. Then, perform the calibration process again.

But if your Wyze lock doesn’t calibrate, don’t stop. The next tip might resolve the problem.

Extend Your Wyze Lock Latch Fully

While calibrating your Wyze lock, you’ll need to lock the deadbolt twice. If you do not extend the latch to its limit when locking the deadbolt, the calibration process may fail.

Take note of this tip and restart your Wyze Lock calibration process. This time, ensure that you turn the latch as much as possible when locking the deadbolt on your Wyze Lock.

If your Wyze Lock still fails to calibrate after this, report the issue to Wyze Support.
