Smart Life Device Offline After Power Outage [Quick Fix]
If there’s a power outage in your home, your device may show offline in the Smart Life App because it has lost power.
However, the device should come back online once power is restored. If your Smart Life device still shows offline in the app after power is restored, read on to see how to resolve this issue.
How to Get Your Smart Life Device Back Online After Power Outage
Power Cycle the Device
Power cycling your device is usually a go-to fix for this issue. You can power cycle your device by unplugging it from the power source. Then wait 30 seconds and plug it back in.
If your device is hardwired (like smart switches), go to your home’s circuit breaker and turn it off. Then wait a few seconds and turn it back on.
For smart lights, turn off the control switch and turn it back on.
After power cycling your smart device, return to the app and check if the device is now online.
Troubleshoot Your Wi-Fi
If your device is powered on but still shows offline in the Smart Life app, your Wi-Fi might be the culprit.
Try rebooting your router to refresh your network. You can reboot your router by unplugging it from its power source and plugging it back in.
Next, return to the app to see if your device is online. If not, check if other devices connected to the same network are working. You can try surfing the internet on your phone to see if it works. If it doesn’t, your internet could be the culprit. Contact your ISP.
But if other devices connected to the same network are working, continue to the next step.
Reset the Device
Another way to resolve this issue is to reset your device and set it up again.
Resetting your device will remove it from the Smart Life app, so you can start all over again to connect it to Wi-Fi.
For most smart devices, you reset them by pressing and holding the reset button or power button for a few seconds.
However, you should refer to your user manual for guidelines on home to reset your device.
After the reset, set up the device again in the Smart Life app and get it connected to your Wi-Fi. This should get your device back online.
Closing Thoughts
If your Smart Life device remains offline after a power outage, rebooting the device can do the trick.
But if the problem persists, troubleshooting your Wi-Fi and resetting the device are the next steps to take.
Note that most smart devices that work with the Smart Life app do not support 5GHz Wi-Fi. So when setting up the device after the reset, check and ensure that your router is operating on the 2.4GHz band.
Also, your phone (where the Smart Life app is installed) should be connected to the same Wi-Fi as your device.
