Ring Floodlight Cam Not Connecting to Wi-Fi [Quick Fix]
In this post, we explain the reasons your Ring Floodlight Camera isn’t connecting to Wi-Fi and what you can do to resolve this issue. If that sounds like what you’re looking for, let’s head right into it.
If your Ring Floodlight Cam is not connecting to Wi-Fi, here are some reasons behind this:
- The camera hasn’t received power.
- Your router is malfunctioning.
- A cable has loosened from your router.
- Your internet is unstable.
In the next paragraphs, we’ll show the steps to take to get your Ring Floodlight Cam to connect to Wi-Fi.
How to Fix Ring Floodlight Camera Wi-Fi Connection Issues
Here are some steps to follow to get your Ring Floodlight Cam to connect to Wi-Fi:
Check that the Camera is Has Received Power
If your Ring Floodlight Camera is not connecting to Wi-Fi, the device may have lost power.
So, you’ll need to check that there is power in the device
Here’s how to do that:
- Press the setup button on the camera. The setup button is usually located at the top of the camera.
- You’ll hear an audio prompt from the camera “Entering Setup Mode.”
- The light at the bottom of the camera will blink. Then the floodlights on your camera will turn on.
- Go under your motion sensor. If the lights on the motion sensor turn on, your Ring Floodlight Cam is connected to power.
However, if your motion sensor stays off after you go under it, your camera has no power. In that case, you’ll need to check if the power outlet (where the camera is plugged in) is turned on. If the switch is off, flip it to the ON position.
Now, go under the motion sensor again and check if the lights turn on. If they don’t, your circuit breaker might be turned off. Go to your circuit breaker box and move it to the ON position.
Your Ring Floodlight Camera should turn on now. Once you’re sure that there is power in your camera, try connecting the device to Wi-Fi again.
If the camera fails to connect to Wi-Fi, try the next tip.
Reboot Your Router
Your router may sometimes malfunction, probably due to a power surge in your home. And this could be the reason your camera isn’t connecting.
So, if you’re still unable to get your Ring Floodlight Cam to connect to Wi-Fi, your router might be the culprit. You can resolve this issue by rebooting your router.
Follow these steps to reboot your router:
- Disconnect your router from power by unplugging it from your power outlet.
- Wait 20-30 seconds and plug it back in.
- Your router will start rebooting. Once the router is back on, connect your Ring Floodlight Cam to Wi-Fi.

Ensure that All Cables Are Properly Connected to Your Router
Your Ring Floodlight Camera may also fail to connect to Wi-Fi if a cable on your router has come loose.
If your camera isn’t connecting to Wi-Fi, check that all the wires on your router are properly plugged. If you find any loose cable, remove it and re-insert it correctly into the router.
Now, try connecting your camera to Wi-Fi again.
Is the camera connected to Wi-Fi now? If not, move on to the next step.
Check that Your Internet is Working
If your camera doesn’t connect to Wi-Fi after you’ve tried all the tips above, the issue might be from your ISP. To confirm this, connect your smartphone to Wi-Fi.
If the smartphone can’t access the internet with your Wi-Fi connection, your ISP might be the culprit. As such, you’ll need to contact your ISP.
However, if your smartphone loads website pages easily when connected to Wi-Fi, your camera might be faulty. If this is the case, continue to the next step.
Reset Your Floodlight Camera
Your Ring Floodlight may not be connecting to Wi-Fi because the device itself is faulty (unseen glitches/incorrect settings).
If you’ve tried all the fixes above without success, try resetting the camera.
You can reset your Ring Floodlight Cam at the breaker box. Locate the switch for your Ring Floodlight Cam and turn it off. Then turn it back on. This will reset the camera and possibly fix the connection problem.
Check that Wi-Fi Password is Correct
Another reason for this problem is incorrect Wi-Fi password. The camera won’t connect to Wi-Fi if you’re entering an incorrect password.
So, go to the Ring app on your phone and ensure you enter the correct Wi-Fi password. If you don’t remember your password, reset your router and set a new password.
Update the Ring App
If you’re using an outdated version of the Ring app, you may experience some issues with your Ring devices.
If the connectivity issue with your Ring Floodlight Cam persists, check that your app is up-to-date.
Depending on your phone, you can check for updates via the Google Play Store or App Store. Enter “Ring app” in the search bar.
When you find the app in the search results, click on it. If there’s an update, it should appear beside the app. Then update the app.
